Positano

Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella

Between Massa Lubrense and Positano, the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella safeguards about 40 km of coast and shoreline. It abounds with flora and fauna – particularly birds and sea life. On the Punta Campanella Promontory, the Minerva Tower, built in 1335, served as a watchtower in the defense against pirate incursions along the Sorrentine Peninsula. The tower featured a bell (campanella) as an alert measure, thus bequeathing to the area its name.

The Amalfi Coast

Amalfi

The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is the most famous coast in the world, and it owes its name to the town of Amalfi, city of majolica, ceramics and hypnotizing panoramas. The Coast is made up of a number of fascinating, characteristic locales – Amalfi, Atrani, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Certaria, Erchie, Scala, Tramonti, Ravello, Conca and Furore. Plunged in green, they all share the intensely-colored, crystalline sea, wild cliffs, houses that cling to the steep, rocky inclines, and majolica-domed churches.
