64.9 Km

From Marina d'Arechi in Salerno, the Regional Park of the Monti Lattari, is approximately an hour's drive away. The main inhabitants of these mountain are sheep, whose milk is used to produce cheese (hence Lattari, a derivative of the Italian for milk, latte). This verdant park is dotted by age-old ironworks and paper mills that popped up due to the numerous underground streams. Also nearby is Gragnano, "city of pasta," and the town of Lettere and its magnificent castle.

Marina d'Arechi - Archaeological Itinerary – Pompeii and Ancient Stabiae

45.2 Km

Marina d'Arechi allows travelers to make their way to Pompeii and ancient Stabiae to explore archaeology and ancient history. Pompeii, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 C.E., is alive with vestiges from its ancient Roman past: the Villa of Mysteries leaves almost everyone agape, with its walls completely covered in intact frescoes. Ancient Stabiae, today's Castellammare di Stabia, offers its archaeological area, the Villa di Arianna, and the Royal Palace of Quisisana.
